Job Description Summary:

The Psychologist position serves students and residents through the provision of individual, couples, and group psychological counseling, outreach presentations, consultation, supervision of a postdoctoral fellow and doctoral practicum students, psychological assessments, and crisis response. In addition, the Psychologist supports the department's and Office of Academic and Student Affairs' strategic initiatives to help culturally diverse students and residents succeed. In discharging these duties, the Psychologist is expected to be keenly sensitive to issues of gender, culture, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disabilities, socio-economic status, etc. and to be skilled with techniques for counseling students and residents with diverse backgrounds. The position engages with a multidisciplinary team that consists of psychologists, learning specialists, writing specialist, psychiatrist, and health professionals to facilitate successful treatment outcomes. The position contributes to the University's strategic plan and reports to the Senior Director of Counseling and Educational Support Services.
Job Description:
Responsibilities & Duties:
Provide individual, couple, family, and group counseling
Provide supervision, consultation, and outreach presentations
Contribute to the department's strategic initiatives to provide services and programs to a diverse student and resident population
Conduct psychological assessment
Participate in crisis response services
Other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Senior Director
Minimum Qualifications :
Doctorate in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, or Clinical Psychology
Licensed eligible as a Psychologist in Kansas
Two years of post-licensed experience
Demonstrated experience providing brief therapy to individuals, couples, and groups
Demonstrated strong clinical and crisis management skills, including ability to work with high acuity students and residents with complex mental health need
Demonstrated multicultural competence in mental health service provision
Experience designing and implementing outreach programs and psychoeducational workshops that promote diversity and social justice
Experience providing clinical supervision and consultation
Superior oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications :
Doctorate completed at APA-accredited program
Predoctoral Internship at an APA accredited internship site
Two or more years of experience in a university counseling center
Experience providing counseling to health science students
Demonstrated competence in providing therapy in bilingual or multilingual contexts
